*Please check our website throughout the race season for available parking garages on race morning.

Yes, if the child wants to be recognized as a Race participant and receive a bib and youth-sized Race T-shirt.  However, children under 3 are not required to pay, but they must have a signed waiver by the parent/guardian (parents must sign a registration form).

We do not have a host hotel, but suggest downtown hotels such as The Doubletree Hotel & Hyatt Regency.

If you would like to register and make a pledge to a participant you must specify the amount of the donation, and which event you’re registering for. Pledge money must be kept separate from registration fees because it is processed separately.

Pledge Program

Go the Extra Mile and fundraise!  If every participant collects at least $100, $3 million would be raised.  What an amazing challenge!

Help raise these additional funds to fight breast cancer by collecting tax deductible donations from family, friends and colleagues to sponsor you in the Race. Earn great prizes based on your total pledges collected, both online (credit card) and offline (cash and checks).

Listed below are the two ways to participate in the pledge program:

How does the pledge program work?

1)    Online Pledging
When you register for the Race online, your own personal webpage is automatically created for you which can be customized by uploading your own photo and writing your own text about the reasons you participate in the Race. You can send emails from your webpage to friends, colleagues and family asking them to sponsor you by donating with a credit card online!

There are three ways to donate online:

•    Make a pledge donation for a particular runner or walker.
•    Make a general pledge donation to a specific Team.
•    Make a general donation to the Race, but not to a specific participant or group.

How do I make a pledge to a Team?
If you want to make a general pledge donation to a specific Team… search for the Team; their page will come up where a general donation to that group can be made. Also listed on that page are all the members of that group.

2)    Paper Pledge Form
List donations on the pledge form and fill in total amount.  Make check payable to: Komen Houston Affiliate.  Pledge donations must be submitted with a completed pledge form and can be submitted at the Pledge Booth on Race Day.

•    Please do not combine pledge money with Race entry fees. (DO NOT mail cash!)
•    If the employer has a “matching funds” program, please mail matching forms to the Komen Office (5433 Westheimer Rd., Suite 325. Houston, TX 77056). Please indicate on the form who should get credit.  Your donation will go twice as far!

Komen Houston Race for the Cure®
P.O. Box 4080
Houston, Texas  77210

Matching Gifts: If the employer has a “matching funds” program, please mail matching forms to the address listed above along with pledge contributions. How do I record an offline pledge?

•    Make sure that you mail in the checks with a completed pledge form to the above address.

They use industry-standard SSL encryption techniques to make sure your credit card information, passwords and personal information travel securely over the Internet. They have also installed an encryption engine on our database server so your data is securely stored.

How is my credit card information handled?

Online Fundraising

What is a Personal Page?
A personal page is an online promotional tool for your use when asking your friends and family to join your team or sponsor you by making a donation. Once you sign up for an event online, by default, you will have a personal page created for you. You have the option of personalizing this page by going to your participant center. You will be able to customize images, text and the style/color layout of the page.

By default I have a personal page, do I have to change it?
Once you sign up for an event online, by default, you will have a personal page created for you. A compelling personal page attracts and engages supporters. While you can spread the word using customized e-mail solicitations, your personal campaign page can be your own creative expression of your commitment to the cause. Customize your page by selecting the layout and style that work best for you. Utilize the elements of text, photo and status indicators to their fullest advantage.

How do I change my personal fundraising goal?
First, you will need to login to your participant center. On the bottom right side of the participant center home page is the location to modify your personal fundraising goal. Enter your new goal and submit the changes.

How do I change my team name, team division or team goal?
Only the team captain has the ability to change the team name or team division. The team captain will need to login to his/her participant center and click the "My Team Progress" button on the top right. On the Team Progress Page, team captains will have the ability to update the team name, division and goal.

How can I see who has donated to me?
Login to the site using your Username and Password. Go to your Participant Center and click the "my progress" tab; this will allow you to view your donor list and any amounts having been donated.

How can I see who is on my team?
Login to the site using your Username and Password. Go to your Participant Center and click the "team progress" tab; this will allow you to view your team roster and the amounts raised by each team member.

What is a team message?
Simply go to your Participant Center and click the "Update Message to Team" button. This will allow you to make all necessary changes to your team message.

What is the difference between making my personal page private or public?
By default, a personal page is Public, meaning your name will appear in the participant search list, and anyone accessing the site will be able to support you. Setting your personal page to Private means your name will not appear in the participant search list, and only people you personally invite will be able to support you.

Starting today, you can raise money for this year’s Race through Facebook!
By adding the boundlessFUNDRAISING™ application to your Facebook page, you’ll have a fundraising thermometer on your page where you and your friends can check your progress and donate to your efforts. Your friends can click a link from the thermometer to make a donation towards your participation in the Race. It’s that easy.

Last year, the Race Pledge Program raised over $2.8 million.  We hope to exceed that amount with YOUR help. With funds raised from the Race, we will save lives and work towards ending breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.

We hope to see you at the finish line on Race day!
