2015 Pink Honor Roll Top 10

We believe that we can only make a difference with the help andsupport of our friends. Proceeds from the 2015 Komen Houston Race for the Cure® and other events will fund community grants to local organizations for education, screening, diagnostic, treatment andsupport services to the uninsured and underserved in our community. In addition, Komen Houston will fund research grants as part of the National Susan G. Komen Award and Research Grant Program. Serving Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty and Montgomery counties, Komen Houston continues its commitment to fundraising and grant making so that families battling breast cancer can get the treatment and support they need. Komen Houston funds community programs to provide:

Education programs — group education and one-on-one education

Clinical breast diagnostic services — mammograms, ultrasounds and biopsies

Treatment services — chemotherapy, surgery and radiation

Treatment support services — transportation to treatment and end of life care

Support programs — support groups and lymphedema therapy

Health care delivery programs — improvements in quality of breast health services

We believe that where a person lives, what she looks like and how much money she has, shouldn’t determine whether she lives.

Breast Cancer in the Komen Houston Seven-County Service Area:

• Every day, 9 cases of breast cancer are diagnosed.

• Every day, 3 cases of breast cancer are diagnosed at later, harder to treat stages.

• Every day, 2 women will die of breast cancer.
