YPC Leadership Team

Beth Zdeblick, Chair

Beth Zdeblick is the Founder and Chair of Komen Houston’s Young Professional Council. Beth's family has been deeply impacted by breast cancer motivating her to become a dedicated volunteer and advocate for Komen Houston. She has served in various leadership positions with the Race for the Cure and Pink Tie Gala since 2002. Prior to working with non-profit organizations, Beth was an Inventory Strategy Manager at Gap Inc. in San Francisco and an Investment Banking Analyst for Simmons & Co, Intl. in Houston. A true advocate for community service, Beth also serves on the steering committees for Dress for Success (W.O.W.) and Ballet Barre and is a Rice University Associate. Beth graduated with a degree in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin and was an active member of the Delta Gamma sorority.

Michelle Rigo, Secretary

Michelle Rigo ran her first Race for the Cure as a child after losing her mom to breast cancer when she was only seven. For the past 11 years, Michelle has worked tirelessly as a Komen volunteer serving in leadership roles on various Race Committees. Her passion for the cause and her commitment to Komen’s mission of saving lives and ending breast cancer forever is an inspiration to all who know her. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Journalism and a Bachelor of Science in Speech Communication, both from the University of Texas at Austin (Hook ‘Em!). Before “retiring” to be a full-time mom when her twins were born, Michelle worked as a marketing manager and recruiting manager for KPMG. She and her husband Mike have four children - three boys and a princess- all ages five and under, and she is blessed to spend each day with them!

Lia Vallone, Membership

Lia Vallone is currently the Program Coordinator of Annual Giving at the Memorial Hermann Foundation. Lia took on this role in the fall of 2007 after receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Corporate Communications and Public Affairs with a minor in Italian from Southern Methodist University. She is an active member of the Junior League of Houston and enjoys volunteering at Houston’s Ronald McDonald House. Lia is a native Houstonian and is very much looking forward to the upcoming year for Komen’s Houston Affiliate and YPC!

Courtney Cernosek, Social Networking

Courtney Cernosek draws inspiration from her mother, a two-time breast cancer survivor, and knows she is here today because of the strides in research that Susan G. Komen for the Cure has helped fund. For 9 years, Courtney has been involved with Komen Houston serving the organization in many different capacities. During her first three years of service, Courtney chaired the Race for the Cure Teams Committee and laid the foundation for increasing our teams from just 25 in 2002 to the 1000 teams we have today. Courtney has also served as the Registration Chair for the Race, and in 2008 she took on the huge job of Race Chair for the 18th Annual Komen Houston Race for the Cure. Courtney continues to serve Komen Houston as a strong leader and advocate for breast cancer awareness. A University of Texas graduate with a Masters in Library Information Sciences, Courtney is currently a stay-at-home mom to her 5-year old son, Andrew.

Sarah Peirce, Fundraising

Sarah Peirce's life has been affected from all angles by breast cancer, along with many other forms of cancer, for many years. The creation of Komen Houston’s Young Profession Council sparked her interest in becoming actively involved with Komen and its powerful mission. Komen's branding, outreach into the community and support across Houston make volunteering with Komen one of the most rewarding endeavors she has experienced. Sarah, a New Orleans native, graduated from Louisiana State University with a BS in Business Administration, and currently works as a Senior Financial Analyst for UTHealth in the Texas Medical Center. Sarah and her fiance are eagerly awaiting their October wedding! They recently bought a house in the Briarforest area and are enjoying making it into their home along with their dog Piper.

Chloe Cervin-Taylor, Mission & Education

Chloe Cervin-Taylor is a native Houstonian and long-time Race for the Cure participant. She graduated from Sam Houston State University with degrees in Art and Sociology and then pursued her dream of working in the medical field by attending Texas Woman's University and earning a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Chloe now works as a Registered Nurse at the Methodist Hospital. She is married to her best friend and is expecting their first baby this winter. Chloe loves to read, knit, sew and enjoys all things crafty and artsy. Her passion for volunteerism and community service is a true gift to Komen Houston!

Linh Vega, Communications

Linh Vega has been involved with Komen Houston’s Race for the Cure for many years. She was drawn to become involved after watching a friend’s mom lose the battle against breast cancer and witnessing the strong commitment that Komen has to finding a cure and ending breast cancer. Linh is a native Houstonian and a graduate of the Bauer College of Business. Her hobbies include spending time with her husband, watching sports, eating, and traveling. Her latest travel adventure was a 10-day trip to Rome which quickly turned into an 18-day trip after the volcano kept her there a few extra days!

We have many ways you can help end breast cancer forever!
