Responsible Stewards of your money: We are pleased to report an overall 18% expense ratio to cover fundraising and administrative costs. This means that 82 cents of every dollar raised was a direct investment to our mission of saving lives and ending breast cancer forever. In 2010, Susan G. Komen for the Cure received the coveted 4-star rating from Charity Navigator , the nation's largest independent evaluator of charities, for the third consecutive year.
Dollars we raised: $5.9 million through individual contributions, corporate partnerships and fundraising events like our signature Race for the Cure and Pink Tie Gala.
Dollars we gave away: Komen Houston awarded a total of $4.73 million to fund breast cancer education, screening, treatment, support and research.
$3.61 million in Community Grants to fund seventeen local organizations
$1.12 million invested to fund critical research through the Komen National Award and Research Grant Program
