Small Grants
The Komen Houston Affiliate is currently offering funding opportunities through the Small Grants Programs. Applications are accepted twice a year on July 1, 2011 and December 1, 2011.
As described below, Small Grants are available in three categories for up to one year.
Education Grants - The purpose of the Education Grants is to raise awareness of breast cancer screening and increase the capacity of effective breast health programs. Education Grants may be used to support a pilot program that may lead to an application for the Community Grants Program.
Amount: Up to $10,000
Conference Grants –The purpose of the Conference Grants is intended to support local scientific or educational conferences, symposia and meetings with an emphasis on those that enhance the interaction between the advocate, healthcare and scientific communities. Funds should be used for the conferences targeting populations that reside in the Komen Houston service area. The content must focus on breast cancer or breast health.
Amount: Up to $10,000
Travel Grants - The purpose of Travel Grants is to provide travel assistance to Grantees, health care professionals and advocates to attend, participate in and/or present at meetings, conferences or symposia that would increase the community knowledge of breast health and breast cancer and facilitate the exchange of ideas and communication between the scientific and lay public. Travel Grants are given to individuals.
Amount: Travel Grants involving domestic and international travel are available for up to $1,000 and $2,000 per traveler, respectively.
