In addition to the Hope Awards, there was a new award created to present this year, Kendra Kirsch Co-Survivor Award. This award was named in honor of Kendra Kirsch, a long-time Komen volunteer and breast cancer advocate who lost her battle with breast cancer after 10 courageous years this past summer at the young age of 37. The first ever recipient will be Colin Elliott, who lost his incredible wife Angie to breast cancer this past fall also at the age of 37. This special award honors co-survivors who take on an incredible role in the life of those battling breast cancer.
