Team Truckin’ for Ta Ta’s
How long you’ve been a team? This is the first year for our company to have a team in the Komen Houston race.
How many team members do you anticipate you will have? Our team, Truckin’ for Ta Ta’s is 54 members strong and we are very excited to be walking for the fight against breast cancer.
Why is the walk or support Komen Houston important to you? We have family and friends who have fought and survived this disease as well as those who are beginning their battle.
Do you run/walk in support of someone? If so, please tell us more. We are walking for the following people:
Peggie Burt, Josephine Querry, Penny Page, Cindy Boudreaux, Janice Kent, Debbie Middlebrooks, Kristy Fitzgerald, Jeanie Doreck, Terri Moon, Donna Williams, Lisa Boggan, Chandra Martin, Linda Barton, Pop Parker, and Benah Parker.
Does your team host special kick-off activities or fundraising events? Our team sold team t-shirts to raise money for the Komen Foundation. We raised $736.54! so far. Of course on Friday October 5th our employees will be wearing pink to support breast cancer. We also are asking all of our truck drivers to wear pink that day or put pink ribbons on their trucks.
What does Race morning look like for your team? Race morning will be exciting as we gather at the start line among tens of thousands of individuals dedicated to the same cause.
Any special people that should be recognized on your team? We have a survivor on our team….Penny Page, who is celebrating her one year anniversary of being cancer free. For most of the team this will be a first time experience and one I am sure they will never forget. Our team captain has participated this race for 10 years. And each year is more special than the next.
We are happy to have Penny on our team to show us the courage it takes to fight this battle and win. We are proud to have the designer of our team shirt, Ashley Orosco walking with us. Jessica King – Ruff and Mike King, two of the owners of Palletized Trucking will be walking with us too. Their dedication to helping others is reflected in all of us as we walk together to get one step closer to a cure.
