We are a team of family and friends from the McGee & Stowe clans and are happy to be walking for the cure once again this year. We have had several survivors on both sides of the family and proud to wear pink in their honor!
How long you’ve been a team? We've been attending the walk together since 2008, we've been a team as long as we've been a family :).
How many team members do you anticipate you will have? It ranges from 6-15 team members.
Why is the walk or support Komen Houston important to you? Our family has been affected by breast cancer, including both of my aunts, and this is a great opportunity to bring awareness, support their fight, celebrate our survivors, and in a fun way. It's also a time that we come together as a family from all different areas of Houston and Austin to join in this event.
Do you run/walk in support of someone? If so, please tell us more. We all walk in honor of my Aunt Lindsey (who walks with us), my Aunt Kathy (lives in Oklahoma and does the walk there), and several other close family friends that we know.
Does your team host special kick-off activities or fundraising events? No, we do not have anything planned to kick off the event.
What does Race morning look like for your team? Race morning varies for us. We typically meet at the team captain's house (which rotates each year), and eat breakfast together. We then travel together to the race. We make sure our pink personalized matching bandanas are on and make our way towards the park where we help each other pin on our race tags and remember those who have fought breast cancer.
