Racing for hope that one day the cures will be found
Why is the Race important? For many of our Race Teams, the Race means coming together and doing something that can make positive change. For many others, it’s about honoring a loved one – sometimes a mother, a grandmother, a sister or a close friend.
On October 6th, thousands will unite in pink in Downtown Houston committed to finding a cure for breast cancer. Chaired by Karen Holt and various Race committees, the 2012 Komen Houston Race for the Cure® is expecting over 1,500 teams to participate.
Team Foster Wheeler USA has been a part of the Komen Houston Race for the Cure® since 2010 with only 20 members who were employees, friends and family members and raised over $5,000. In 2011, in addition to also sponsoring the Race, their team doubled and was able to raise over $11,000, all of which was matched dollar for dollar by their company.
This outstanding group of employees and supporters to the cause recognize the importance of raising funds for breast cancer awareness, education, screening and treatment programs, as well as cutting edge research to help find cures. This year, they are pledging their continued support with a bigger team and plans to raise even more money.
