2015 Pink Honor Roll Spotlight - Shari Murphy

This year, Shari ranked #90 on the 2015 Pink Honor Roll for her phenomenal fundraising efforts in raising $1,500 to support Komen Houston’s mission – to save lives and end breast cancer forever.

“For me Race day is just such an incredible experience, being in the middle of thousands of people, just seeing and feeling the outpouring of love and support for all of the women with their friends and families cheering them on to the finish line.  It’s just such an important motivational part of their battle with breast cancer.” says Shari.

She has supported Susan G. Komen® Houston for over 5 years and was inspired to get involved when a close colleague, Mary Helen Ybanez, was battling breast cancer in 2011.  At that moment, she knew she wanted to do something to give back and became actively engaged in the Komen Houston Race for the Cure® and the JPMorgan Chase Team.  Mary is now a 3 year breast cancer survivor.

JP Morgan Chase had over 450 people participate in the Race and other related Komen Houston activities.  Each year, they host a kickoff event to promote the Race and encourage participation.  They also conduct breast cancer awareness sessions at health fairs with speakers, awareness literature and promotional items at multiple Chase locations throughout the Houston area. The morning of the Race, the team meets on the steps of City Hall for team photos and morning motivation.  After the Race, they meet up for a post Race celebration and luncheon.

“I'm so proud of the JPMorgan Chase Team and what we've accomplished in the last 3 years, being in the Top 100 Fundraising Teams.  I am personally honored and excited to part of the 2015 Pink Honor Roll!” shares Shari.
