This year, Lynn ranked #59 on the 2015 Pink Honor Roll for her phenomenal fundraising efforts in raising $2,365 to support Komen Houston’s mission – to save lives and end breast cancer forever.
“As a survivor myself, I want women to have the same chance I did and hope that one day a cure is found.” says Lynn.
Lynn was originally diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer (left side) in 2001 and was fortunate to be able to have her mastectomy and reconstruction at the same time. She had 4 chemotherapy treatments because the cancer was in 1 of 24 lymph nodes. A year later, she was diagnosed with lymphodema in the left arm. It was very difficult for her to accept that lymphodema was not curable and that she would have to learn to live and manage the condition.
She’s now accepted the lymphodema, and in fact has fun with the compression sleeves. The picture above shows her with my favorite - Lotus Dragon Tattoo. “I get stares and people ask me where I got the "tat"! It's hilarious!” shares Lynn. In March 2014, she was again diagnosed with breast cancer (right side) but it was stage 0. She’s grateful for being proactive with her annual checkups that caught the cancer very early.
For the past 13 years, she has walked in the Komen Houston Race for the Cure® and enjoys seeing all the people that come out on Race Day. It is a very emotional experience to see all that support.
