2015 Pink Honor Roll Spotlight - Kathy Rapp

Breast cancer is rare in young women.  Fewer than five percent of all breast cancers diagnosed in the U.S. occur in women under 40.  Kathy was only 34 years old when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

“There are many reasons I support the fight against breast cancer.  I have a daughter.  I have seen friends suffer and know others who have lost loved ones.  I want to raise awareness and educate others that this impacts too many under the age of 40.  I am a survivor who was lucky enough to realize something was wrong at age 34.” says Kathy.

The Komen Houston Race for the Cure® is important to her because it allows her to raise awareness that women under 40 can also get breast cancer.

This year, Kathy ranked #72 on the 2015 Pink Honor Roll for her phenomenal fundraising efforts in raising $1,825 to support Komen Houston’s mission – to save lives and end breast cancer forever.

Her favorite part about working with Komen Houston is learning about all the research achievements made possible through the funds raised each year.   She also likes helping those who are just starting their journey.
